Anne Oberholtzer Scholarship Awards 2010 Jul 27, 2010

President Andy Vann is pleased to announce Melissa Lewis and Jason Pixner as recipients of the Anne Oberholtzer Scholarship Awards for 2010.

The Awards recognize the contribution of Anne Oberholzter who served over 24 years as WMSC Club administrator.

This year was a very difficult selection with 14 excellent candidates nominated for the Scholarship. Committee Chair, Kathryn Craig, joined by Karen Anderson, and Brad Dempster were impressed with the quality and character of all the candidates. K. Craig emphasized “The selection was very difficult as any candidate nominated would have been a good choice”.

The Scholarships of $1,000 each are awarded annually to one male, one female, who are entering a post secondary institution in September 2010. The Awards demonstrate WMSC’s commitment to the scholar/athlete, investment in the youth of our community, and the development of the whole person.

A.Vann noted that the exceptional community participation, high scholastics and competitive level of soccer participation by each of the candidates is an indication of WMSC’s talented membership.

Melissa Lewis will attend University of Waterloo to study Arts and Business, while Jason Pixner plans to attend Conestoga College for Electrical Engineering.

All of us at WMSC wish Melissa and Jason the very best with their post secondary studies.
