Team of the Week: U12A Girls - Cambridge Heritage Tournament Champions Jul 19, 2010



On the weekend of July 10-11, the Waterloo United U12A Girls travelled down the road to Riverside Park to participate in the Cambridge Heritage Tournament.

The team began the tournament with an early morning 2-0 victory over the NorWest Panthers. They continued their winning streak with victories over Unionville SC (5-0) and Newmarket United (1-0). The team completed Saturday undefeated and in good spirits heading into the second day of the tournament.

Sunday saw another early morning start for the team. This time, the team experienced their first (and only) loss of the tournament in a game against the St. Catharines Jets (0-1). Despite that loss, United advanced to the semi-finals and defeated the Sault Civics by a score of 1-0. That semi-final victory set up a rematch against the St. Catherines Jets in the final game. The girls’ strong team work resulted in a 3-1 victory in the final and brought Waterloo United their second tournament championship in a month! WAY TO GO GIRLS!!
